Introduction to Incident Command System
Course Overview
Incident Command training is being developed and offered for a variety of disciplines, including Federal, Provincial and Municipal Emergency Management Workers, Public Works, Law Enforcement, and Public Health Workers. All of the ICS training offered through these courses is consistent. However, training is designed to meet specific needs of the client.
Course Objectives
This course introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System.

- Components of an effective incident command system.
- Common Terminology and Glossary of ICS Terms.
- Modular Organization.
- Communications.
- Organization, Operations, Manageable Span of Control.
- The involvement and responsibilities of responding emergency services agencies.

- Emergency public information.
- Incident evaluation and planning.
