Basic Fire Extinguisher Training
This “Hands-On” course is intended to give participants a basic understanding of fire safety, an understanding of the limitation of fire extinguishers and to develop skills in use of fire extinguishers.
At the end of this course participants will be able to:

• Understand basic fire science.
• Know what to do in case of fire.
• List the classes of fire.
• List the means of extinguishing a fire.
• Understand the limitation of fire extinguishers.
• Select and use the proper extinguisher.
• Describe the building life safety systems.
• Extinguish a fire using the proper extinguisher.

Participants on this course will gain confidence in their capabilities to extinguish a fire while using a proper extinguisher.  Quick and proper action taken in using an extinguisher on an incipient fire can save an organization time and money.  Business can continue as usual. This course meets the requirements of the Canada Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, part xvii and the National and local Fire Codes. All participants, successfully completing the course, will receive a Certificate of Participation.

The classroom sessions are conducted indoors. The extinguisher “Hands-on training”, using a video-audio fire simulator system can be conducted indoors. “Hands-on training” fire extinguisher training is also available using a live fire simulator that operates on propane gas.  This training can be conducted at your location.
